TAMPA MAN GUILTY OF LAKELAND BANK ROBBERY
Tampa, Florida - A jury in U.S. District Court found Cornelius Bryant, age 29, guilty of bank robbery yesterday. The maximum penalty Cornelius Bryant faces is 20 years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 27, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara. Cornelius Bryant was indicted on July 30, 2008. According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, Bryant entered the MidFlorida Federal Credit Union at 1551 East Gary Road ,in Lakeland, on June 23, 2008, demanded money from the teller, and left with approximately $1,650. At the time of this offense, Bryant was serving a term of federal supervised release for a prior bank robbery conviction in 2002. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Laurel F. Moore.
