Over 50 Agencies Attend Joint Exercise to Prepare for Super Bowl XLIIITampa, Florida - Today, representatives of over 50 local, state, and federal public safety agencies and organizations participated in a table-top exercise hosted by the city of Tampa. The training event was a collaborative effort to strengthen community readiness, interagency cooperation, and security planning for Super Bowl XLIII. The exercise tested the multiagency response to multiple simulated incidents and attacks against local targets, while public safety agencies maintained an expected level of security at other venues. The training was facilitated by the FBI Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) at the invitation of the Tampa Bay Public Safety Sub-Committee. The mission of the CIRG is to enhance the FBI's rapid response to, and the management of, crisis incidents. CIRG was established in 1994 to integrate tactical and investigative resources and expertise for critical incidents which necessitate an immediate response from law enforcement authorities. CIRG will deploy investigative specialists to respond to terrorist activities, hostage takings, child abductions and other high-risk repetitive violent crimes. Other major incidents include prison riots, bombings, air and train crashes, and natural disasters. The CIRG will be supporting the City of Tampa during the Super Bowl XLIII event. The following agencies and organizations attended today’s Super Bowl XLIII table-top exercise:
