FBI INVESTIGATING REPORT OF PRODUCT TAMPERING

Ft Myers, Florida - On March 20, 2008, the FBI immediately initiated an investigation after becoming aware of a possible product tampering incident at a local drug store in Ft Myers, Florida. According to the complaint, a customer purchased two Otis Spunkmeyer banana flavored muffins, earlier in the day, from the Walgreens store located at 38 Homestead Leigh High Acres. The customer reported swallowing a suspected razor blade when he consumed the product. The customer subsequently sought medical attention.

The FBI has been coordinating its investigative efforts with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Florida Department of Health, Walgreens, and Otis Spunkmeyers, Inc.

The FBI would like to reassure the public this incident is being thoroughly investigated and at this time, it appears the incident is an isolated matter.
