FBI ARRESTS TEXAS SUBJECT IN FLORIDA

Orlando , Florida – Special Agent in Charge Steven E. Ibison today announced the arrest of Jevgeni Sorokin, 23 years old, from Russia and currently listed as a permanent resident and not a United States citizen. Sorokin was arrested on February 22, 2008 , by Special Agents of the Orlando , Florida office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), with the assistance of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Sorokin was taken into custody without incident at his residence on Tottenham Way , Kissimmee , Florida .

The federal arrest warrant was issued in the Southern District of Texas as a result of a multi-count indictment involving Mail Fraud, Wire Fraud, Interstate Transfer of Stolen Property and Possession of Stolen Property.

Sorokin was scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Karla Spalding, Middle District of Florida, Orlando , Florida later today for his initial appearance.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
